Low Carbon Communities News Letter:
Welcome to the 24th LCCN newsletter! Not so much to report this week: We're busy with the conference (see below) and redeveloping our website. Globally discussions at Cancun are moving forward very slowly... Don't forget this is your newsletter, so please do send us material: any reports on new publications, upcoming events, interesting projects etc. are always welcome. *Communities and Climate Conference* If you've not booked for the national conference, now is the time to do so. Around 60 people have booked in the week since we started taking bookings! The Sunday session, focusing on community to community dialogue is proving very popular. Ticket registration is open now at: http://lccnconference.eventbrite.com/ For further information about the conference click here<http://lowcarboncommunities.net/communities-conference/> . *What's going on at Cancun?* There's a lot being reported (more than what's being achieved so far?). One site that is really providing good coverage is the TckTckTck (the clock is ticking...) campaign site: http://tcktcktck.org/ As well as live coverage of Cancun they have a range of other useful and interesting stuff (and 17 Million people signed up) - it's well worth a detailed look. * Alliances...* You'll note that the conference is being run by LCCN for the Communities and Climate Action Alliance (CCAA) which involves us, the Low Carbon Communities Network (LCCN), along with the Transition Network, the Green Communities Network, the Community Energy Practitioners Forum, Local United and the Scottish Climate Challenge Fund Network. There's been some confusion because there is another Alliance, the Alliance for Jobs, Climate and Communities (calling itself the 'Climate Alliance'). We are working with this grouping as well and they are at: http://www.climatealliance.co.uk *Campaign Against Climate Change: National Climate March 4th Dec 2010* A thousand demonstrators spell out the message for ZERO carbon by 2030 in Hyde Park London, before joing the 'March to Parliament for a Zero Carbon Britain' on Saturday. The National Climate March was part of a Global Day of Action with actions and demonstrations on climate all around the world on the Saturday midway through the UN Climate Talks in Cancun, Mexico. See: www.globalclimatecampaign.org The demands of the march were a Zero Carbon Britain by 2030, One Million Climate Jobs Now! Ten percent cuts in one year, Real Cuts not offsets, a Green Energy Revolution, a Moratorium on Agrofuel use, End Domestic Flights, Expand Public Transport and a 55 mph speed limit. http://www.campaigncc.org * The LCCN Website* We are upgrading the website. One aim is to have better links: If there's a site that you think should have a link on our site please send us the link with a few sentences explaining how the site relates to our work. Send to: hello@lowcarboncommunities.net *LCCN Facebook page * Please like the Low Carbon Communities facebook page here<http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#%21/pages/Low-Carbon-Communities-Network/131358486884006> . *You want more good local stories? - well send those stories to us<hello@lowcarboncommunities.net> ! * General Email: hello@lowcarboncommunities.net Website: lowcarboncommunities.net 07/12/2010
