There has never been a better time (and possibly never will again after March 2012?) to invest in solar panels (PV for electricity)?
Currently, the FIT tariff price paid is up to 43.3p/unit, and prices can be very competitive.

Most recently, we have spent a lot of time brokering solar deals for our clients. The difference in pricing and performance of product can be quite large, and the average person probably doesn’t realise that not every 2kwp system will deliver the same amount of electricity? Therefore, given 3 price options of a system of the same size, they will probably go for the cheapest?”.
“We’re also a little concerned that some installers will travel for miles for a job- Why do Essex based installers leaflet drop in Kent? This negates the environmental impact somewhat, and must add some sort of cost to the consumer?”
“Having an office in Kent, we wanted to find something special to offer the residents of Kent? We looked into Solar Clubs, but whilst their pricing was OK, it certainly didn’t represent a 20% discount that was claimed! Recent quotes we’ve obtained for clients suggest that this saved around only 5% on what you could get, without trying too hard!
But, the main reason we didn’t go down this route was that we could offer a better price anyway!
With careful procurement, using local installers, relying on word of mouth, and other low/no cost advertising, the overheads can be kept to a minimum which means we can offer great prices.
Quality of equipment is also very important to us, which is why we use, high performance, German made panels. This means that for quality/price and performance it would be very difficult to find a better offer!!
