Is time running out for free solar panels??
Whilst we don’t know exactly what changes to the Feed in Tariff the Government will make. One thing I think, it’s safe to say, is certain, is that they will reduce the payments?
By how much, we don’t really know? But, there is a strong feeling that they will (at the least) reduce them back in line with the initial target return ( an average of 8% return in the first year).
Whilst this will still be attractive for the domestic market, and indeed anyone else who is prepared to fund the installation themselves, it may not be attractive enough for investors looking to “rent roofs”?
With only 7 months left before the change (and bear in mind the likely weather conditions during this period, where we could easily lose a month of install time?), any commercial scale (20kwp – 50kwp) projects, in particular, that are looking for the free solar panel option, need to act fast, or risk losing out?
I say that commercial projects are more at risk, simply due to the additional length of time it takes to get the project to install stage – Board members/trustees etc need to make collective decisions, planning consent required etc.
Therefore, if your considering it, then don’t delay!!
At Viridis, we have access to a number of investors looking for suitable roofs. If you would like further information, then contact 0845 437 4484, or email info@viridisec.co.uk
Note for installers – If you have such projects, but can’t find the right investor, then contact us too. We have investors purely looking to provide the money. In other words, you provide the equipment (in most cases), and the install too (you get paid).. Invariably, there is an O&M requirement too, providing further income..
On a decent roof, capable of taking 50kwp, you could be saving around £4,000 on electricity bills in the first year! For no outlay! Over 25 years, and taking into consideration fuel inflation, this could be over £150,000!!
Imagine that for nothing!
